1st Blind ARDF event in USA The first of what
we hope to many Blind ARDF events is History. A small but enthusiastic
group gathered at Sinclair Park in Dayton on May 20th, the Sunday of the
2007 Dayton Hamvention. After an hour of practice and instruction our
competitors took to the field and made looking for the three 80M
transmitters seem easy. Times to cover the approximately 300 meter
course are listed with our winners information.

From Left to Right:

* Though sighted, Jim, W9EMT, was a good sport competing in the
event with supplied blinders.
Note: After the completion several of the
helpers also gave it a go with slightly modified courses. It is
indeed challenging for the sighted.
Congratulations to all who either took the challenge or provided
assistance during the event. Now that we have a good working
format and the first event complete we hope to promote this type of
activity and increase participation. I know that those who
competed will spread the work. How about you doing the same.
